Yes I'm skeptical to their overall effectiveness at times as well but there's enough out there for a quarter of a million uninstalls already.

@@AdvanceWebSolutions From what I read is that people are uninstalling their old adblockers and installing better adblockers. Many are even ditching Chrome as well. As for me I haven'r gotten one of these warnings to disable my adblocker, so it must be doing its job.

Yes just because there are mass uninstalls that doesn't mean people just decide to buy UA-cam Premium and move on. There will be backlash with people choosing to switch browsers and get the upgraded ad blockers elsewhere like you said. @@AdvanceWebSolutions If Google really wanted to they could push a silent update to all chrome users and render the ad blockers useless in their browser, but I don't think they will go that far because people will ditch Chrome in a heartbeat. People like their Chrome browsers, but they don't like Chrome that much. Google hasn't even removed their adblockers from their Google Playstore. As for effectiveness well that all depends on the adblocker you use and the configuration. Some ad blockers are really good and some are not so good. If ads are breaking through your adblocker chances are you need to uodate it or configure its settings. If you're just casually surfing the web, well thats pretty easy to do and just about any adblocker can do this. You can even disable Java too if a site detects your adblocker. You obviously can't disable Java for you youtube because the site won't work. You also have to update your adblocker. Most websites don't have billions of dollars to spend on defeating adblockers. If you're trying to block ads on Facebook then thats a little harder to do and need a really good adblocker to do that. Some adblockers even have their own separate DNS servers that will also block ads at the DNS level which will also block most ads even in Apps. You then have devices like the Raspberry Pie that will allow you to block ads at the network level. The Pie-Hole is probably the best solution because it blocks ads accross all your devices and apps including devices like the Ruku and Amazon Fire stick and as a bonus their is nothing to detect because their is no adblocker on your computer to detect and all your traffic is being filtered though a separate device that acts as its own server. The only downside is that you have to be tech savvy to set it up. There are a lot of different options for blocking ads. Their are even ways to block sponsors now with extensions like sponsor block. I don't think blocking sponsors will ever become mainstream though because sponsors aren't annoying or intrusive. The UA-camr will promote certain products once at the beginng of the video or at the end and thats it. Most people don't care and won't go out of their way to block their sponsors. Sometimes the products that the UA-camr promotes are interesting. People are much more likely to trust their favorite UA-camrs judgment when they are promoting a product then some scummy ad company. The only thing you can't block as of right now is ads in the youtube app, but there are a lot of work arounds. There are a lot of Open source youtube apps that allow you to watch UA-cam videos without any ads, so you have the convenience of watching youtube through an app instead of a browser. Adguard now has their own work around. You can Share the video you want to watch in the youtube app with adguard and the video will start playing in adguards own video player without ads. This is great for people that have an Iphone. UA-cam has been able to shut down down apps like vanced with a cease and desist and managed to get it shut down, but 5 more popped up to take its place. It's kind of like how they shut down file sharing sites like Napster and Limewire back in the day. As soon as they were shut down dozens of file sharing clients popped up to take its place. Adblockers not only block ads, but they block malware. It also blockers trackers as well, so that advertisers can't track you all over the web. It also blocks sites like Google from using Canvas fingerprinting methods to track you. Even the FBI, CIA, and NSA use adblockers to protect themselves from malware. Before adblockers we had popup blockers that blocked popups. I think many people were using crappy adblockers that just blocked ads while surfing the web, but not UA-cam ads. They probably didn't even know Adblockers could block ads in UA-cam, well they do now. People are Fed Up with the amount of ads during a video. You have double ads, Mid Roll ads, and non skippable ads. Some videos even have ads every few minutes. Even Vizio is experimenting with banner ads while TV shows are playing. I'm not talking about regular commercials. Imagine while watching your favorite show an ad appears while the show is playing. It will only get worse and when ads infect your smart TV people are going to need to block ads also on their TV. Scientists have even warned that marketers are even trying to figure out how to inject ads while you are dreaming, that is some real dystopian shit. I absolutely hate ads and even ditched Windows 10 because of it. Windows now has ads in the start menu, app store, and they even experimented with putting ads in the file explorer. People have finally had enough of this crap and are finally fighting back.

Some people feel it's a grey area whether they are actually illegal or not. To me if they don't have UA-cam's permission you are not following the law by using them.

Using adblockers is stupid if they bother you so much then just pay for the membership. Otherwise, half the ads are designed for things you like or may want to see anyway. That's the whole point.

About a million dollars lol. No seriously the reason for the video is the youtubers who have monetized accounts have been losing them because of ad blockers. It's one thing if your UA-cam account is only used for fun. If you have something bigger to lose the risks don't equal the rewards.@@anthonya2169

I might be in the minority but I actually like UA-cam Ad interruptions. They show you things you may actually want to see just like commercials on television. The Super Bowl commercials are part of the whole experience.@@TeddyTheProWrestlingTroll
